Under Lock and Key - the Cover Story

Here is my piece for the TIO #37 challenge this week. The theme is Under Lock and Key.

I used grunge board and gesso, paint dabbers, alcohol inks, cosmic shimmers mica powders, distress in soot and black UTEE... I threw the kitchen sink at it and my hands are filthy, so obviously I really enjoyed muself!! I also used some metal findings, because I intend to make this the cover of a tag book with images of similar things inside. Might have little tags inside too... not sorted it yet, just wanted to work a bit bigger again this week!! It is really grungy and dark, but so tactile.

Distress It!!! TIO Challenge Tag for my 1 Year Blogaversary

My DragonsDream Tag It On Challenge Blog is 1 year old today and I will be putting up some blog candy to be won, to celebrate with you all. All you have to do is enter a challenge from now till the end of May, put a picture of the candy with a link, on your blog, and sit back to wait to win!!!!

I hope to start a monthly challenge here soon, so stand by for the launch of that one too... it will be very different from the TIO one, being for those of you who like to make alternatively thought out pieces!!! I hope you will join in and guest etc. I want it to be darkly fun!!!

This tag is dark and grungy, being made from grunge paper and distressed with dark inks and powders. Do go along and have a go, you will enjoy it, I'm sure... and keep an eye out for me posting those goodies from my stash!!

TIO #34 - Under the Moon's Shadow Gothic Triptych

Here is my entry for the TIO challenge this week, set for us by guest Elizabeth of The Crafty Robin blog. The theme is under the moon's shadow, and she wants us to have a moon somewhere. Her tag is beautiful, so have a look... I will enter it at Think Monday Think ATC, where the theme is triptych. I have also entered it at Tellens Place, where the theme is simply, ATC.

I joined 3 pieces together with watercolour paper, at ATC size, so the triptych would open and close. I coloured with distress inks and overstamped with layers of different textures. The pictures are from a Crafty Individuals pad and the front is my darkroom door, door stamp (I have some more coming, yey!!!)

This is the front view when the whole thing is closed. I really enjoyed working smaller again, as most of my work has been at least postcard sized, recently!!

Three Out of Three!!

All three of these images won places on samplers, special honours, or won the week outright - this image, above and right,  of "All About Me",  was the first ever unanimous choice of the DT... I am THRILLED, dear readers, so I am delighted to be back crafting, when I have such great success!!! All those dark, painful and disappointing days have been diminished by the outpouring of stuff I have managed in the last week!!!!

WOOOO!!! Yey... so happy!!! Thanks for looking and supporting!!

Tellens Place Challenge #12 - All About Me

Over at Tellens Place the challenge theme this time is "All about You" ... there are some great DT pieces so do go have a look. I decided to take it literally and do a piece which summed some of me up!!!
dreamer
always hoping
butterfly minded
curly headed
sometimes oblivious (eyes wide shut!!)
dotty
bubbly
muddled
would-be princess
flowery
wordy
bright but darker round the edges

and so on!!! I used a cube and blossom from Judikins, butterflies from Elusive images, words and swirls from UMount and Crafty Individuals, the crown from Tim Holtz and bubbles from Aspects of Design from Tracey's alluring ladies plate. It was all coloured with promarkers and distress inks - what a surprise - and much of it was embossed with clear ep, meltdust on this occasion.... Anyone recognise me???

The Spirit of the Tree

I noticed that they have a challenge at Wednesday Stamper, about trees. I have had a dark image in my head for a while, so I decided to carry it out and enter it for their challenge this week. I used a Judikins tree, moon, field of sky and cube and basically sapphire blue and soot black distress inks, with a touch of pinks and browns... The birds are from a Kodomo set, which I love to use. Hope this fits the bill over at WS!! Thanks for looking

The Key to the Door of my Dark heART...

Here is my first piece created directly for this blog, and I am going to enter it into a challenge at Macabre Monday on Haunted Design House blog. It's a free choice of something creepy or gothic, so I am letting myself in gently!!! I hope the community there like it. I shall also enter it into the challenge of The Three Muses, where the theme is blackbird... should fit right in I hope . I LOVED doing it, not just because I am crafting again, but because it is so different...

On shiny card, I stamped and overstamped with Darkroom Door, UMount, Crafty Individuals,Wendie Rhodes, Judikins, Hero Art and Aspect of Design. I used archival jet black and chipped sapphire under clear Meltdust, then coloured with the TH tool in forest moss, walnut stain, black soot and crushed olive. The colours are rich and deep. This is my Header for the New Blog

I decided to create this new blog and made a piece for the header. I have been brooding for a long time, buying new stash and stamps, for when I could get back to work!! I have had such problems with arthritis in my hands... That time is now, so I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece. I used many new stamps and lots of the new distress ink colours...

I used the rose from Elusive Images, to echo that on the blogger background. I also used stamps from Darkroom Door, Aspects of Design, UMount, Tim Holtz shabby French sheet 1 and several from Crafty Individuals. I LOVE  all the new shades of distress inks. They mix and match so well. I layered the stamps then coloured the background, embossing with clear ep as always!! The edges are distressed with dark gold perfect pearls.
